Wee Hur Regent Street is an 18-storey student accommodation building with 409 beds, featuring a five-storey First Nations mural, Mana-gubra, by Leanne Tobin across the southern elevation.
Materials & application
ECOTONE supplied Prima Projects with ECOTONE Minsil in a custom ochre-yellow for application to moulded precast concrete panels within the factory. Applying the stain before installation maintained schedule and budget, and ribbed precast panels below the mural were coloured for consistency.
Outcome
The custom precast panels demanded precision to ensure seamless continuity across joints, and the ribbed, moulded precast below amplifies the artwork's visual impact — creating a powerful and cohesive expression of culture, architecture and colour.
